Surprise anyone who likes gourmet delicacies with this original gift from France: the Flocon d'Ariège is a delicious confection, completely handmade with its making requiring precision, delicacy, and patience. This French specialty is a soft coating of meringue flavored with vanilla, with a smooth hazelnut praline inside. The Flocon is the size of a walnut and you can appreciate its lightness at every moment, with coffee, tea or just by itself. The Flocons are individually wrapped in transparent cellophane and presented in a hexagonal box. Box contains approximately 37 pieces. (8.81 oz)

It was in 1985 that the Flocon d'Ariège was invented by Claude Laurent, a confectioner living in La Tour de Crieu, a small village in the department of Ariège. He wanted to create a specialty for this “département” of France as there was none. He came up with the “flocons d'Ariège”, literally meaning the flakes of Ariège. Although it rarely snows in Ariège, he wanted to pay tribute to the snowy mountains of the “Pyrénées ariégeoises”. The Pyrenees are a range of mountains in the southwest of France that forms a natural border between France and Spain. They extend for about 267 miles from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea. The Pyrenees cross many regions and départements and they are called “Pyrénées ariégeoises” when they cross the département of Ariège.

Ingredients: sugar, hazelnuts, cocoa butter, egg white, vanilla.
