For the ultimate white chocolate lover, send this exquisite specialty from Lyon, France: the Quenelle de Lyon is a soft hazelnut praliné covered with a fine layer of white chocolate; the box also holds the truffled Quenelle which is an almond praliné covered with a fine layer of white chocolate and sprinkled by slivers of Mocha coffee from Ethiopia. These exquisite and savory French chocolates have a rich velvety praliné centre that nobody can resist. They are packaged in a traditional rectangular box that contains 16 hazelnut pralinés and 16 almond pralinés. (5.29 oz)

The candy-maker Voisin called this chocolate “Quenelle” to pay tribute to one of the most famous dishes of the city of Lyon and its area: the “quenelle”. The “quenelle” is a poached oval dumpling of pureed forcemeat. The quenelle “au brochet” (pike), “aux écrevisses” (crayfish), or “aux truffes” (truffles) are the specialties of the region. The quenelle first made an appearance in the 18th century and it was acclaimed by Brillat-Savarin, a famous French gourmet and author of a work on gastronomy entitled The Physiology of Taste.

Ingredients: sugar, hazelnuts, almonds, milk, cocoa butter, lecithin, coffee.
